What is Mental Health?
Mental health is not to be confused with mental illness. Mental health refers to one’s psychological, emotional and social state, having the ability to manage stress effectively, overcome challenges and form healthy relationships to live a positive quality of life. High levels of stress, especially when is not managed properly, can adversely impact mental health, leading to impaired cognitive function, anxiety and even depression.
Mental health is often neglected as sometimes its symptoms do not manifest physically and could look like other common ailments, but it is a crucial aspect of one’s overall health condition as it would affect the way a person thinks, feels and behaves.
So.. What is Mental Wellness?
Mental wellness refers to a state of psychological well-being in which an individual is able to effectively manage their emotions, cope with stress, maintain satisfying relationships, and make sound decisions. It encompasses various aspects of a person’s mental health and emotional resilience. Mental wellness is not merely the absence of mental illness; rather, it involves actively cultivating positive mental states and adopting healthy coping strategies to enhance overall quality of life.
Mental wellness focuses on the proactive steps and strategies individuals can take to maintain and enhance their mental health.
What does Epic Workshops do for Mental Wellness?
Epic Workshops prides itself as a service provider with close to 5 years of working experience, delivering activity-based programmes that are guided by the Health Promotion Board (HPB) to equip our communities with knowledge on what is mental well-being, importance of mental-wellbeing and tips on how to improve mental well-being through craft.
With the belief that engaging in creative activities and learning new skills through workshops can have positive effects on mental health and well-being in general, we are happy to provide the following services to engage our community and clients
Facilitators will encourage participants to be fully immersed in their craft, focusing on the process of creating rather than the end result, taking their mind off stress triggers temporarily and returning to it with a clearer headspace
