Terrazzo Coaster FAQ

What types of materials are used in Concrete Everything's workshops?
There are 2 types of materials that you can choose from for your Concrete Everything workshop. Concrete is the main material used for larger crafts, while jesmonite was introduced as a light-weight alternative to cast concrete crafts and is now used as the second main material.
What is concrete?
Concrete is a building material that is formed when fine and coarse material like sand, gravel and crushed stone are bound together and harden over time using a fluid cement paste, which is typically made by adding water to cement-like material.
What is jesmonite?
Jesmonite is a quick-dry building material comprising gypsum composite, which was acrylic-modified to become an eco-friendly and safe alternative to fibreglass and a lighter alternative to cast concrete. How long is the curing process for concrete and jesmonite?
The curing process for concrete will take around 3 to 4 days to reach its optimal strength and durability while the curing process for jesmonite takes around 6 to 24 hours for it to reach its optimal strength and durability. Both materials will further strengthen and become more durable over time with concrete taking months to years to reach its full strength and durability.
Is jesmonite safe for food contact?
Jesmonite is not a food-grade product, so it is not safe to put food onto Jesmonite products directly. We recommend using a food-grade sealant to coat the Jesmonite product before use.
Do I get to bring my concrete craft back after the workshop?
You will be able to bring your craft back on the day itself as concrete will set within 1 to 2 hours, which makes it suitable to be carried around. However, as the curing process for concrete takes at least 3 days, it is highly recommended to handle your concrete crafts with care as the material is still fragile and prone to cracks during this time.
Do I get to bring my jesmonite craft back after the workshop?
You will be able to bring your craft back on the day itself as jesmonite cures extremely quickly. However, do be more careful in handling your jesmonite piece for the next 24 hours as it would be more fragile, so try your best not to drop it.
What is the expected flow of a Concrete Everything jesmonite workshop?
Our facilitators would start with a brief introduction of jesmonite, before moving onto the hands-on activity which includes a live demonstration. The session would conclude with a photo-taking session with everyone holding their completed jesmonite crafts.
What materials do I need to create jesmonite craft?
The required materials include containers and measuring devices, jesmonite pigments and most importantly jesmonite powder and liquid! You would also need some tools to help you with the mixing. All these materials are provided for you at our jesmonite workshops, along with various add-ons such as sealant, and terrazzo flakes for our terrazzo workshops.
Do I need any prior knowledge to attend the concrete or jesmonite workshop?
No prior knowledge or experience is required for any Concrete Everything workshop! Our workshops are suitable for beginners and our skilled facilitators will bring you through the process of creating your concrete / jesmonite craft step-by-step. Not only would it be an enriching and fulfilling experience for you, but you also get to keep and admire your artwork after the workshop.
Why should I choose Concrete Everthing's workshops?
In the hustle and bustle of Singapore's city life, concrete and jesmonite crafts are wonderful additions to our home and office spaces. They add to the aesthetics of our environment which can be pleasing to the eye.
What types of events would the Concrete Everything's workshops be suitable for?
Any types of events would go well with a Concrete Everything workshop, including corporate team-building events, school workshops, birthday / hen's parties, and even casual gatherings with your friends and family. Don't hesitate, book your Concrete Everything concrete or jesmonite workshop today!
What age groups are suitable for Concrete Everything's workshops?
The concrete and jesmonite workshops are great for teenagers and adults. Working with concrete / jesmonite requires the use of fine motor skills and patience, so these workshops are generally not as suitable for young children.
What's the maximum number of participants for the concrete / jesmonite workshop?
Our studio workshop can hold up to 50 participants for the workshop. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, our studio's current maximum limit is 25 participants. For groups larger than 25, there are two options. 1. You can choose to book your own venue with a larger maximum capacity and our facilitators can travel to your location. 2. You can book a virtual jesmonite workshop instead for an unlimited number of participants. Virtual concrete workshops are not yet available - stay tuned!
How does the virtual jesmonite workshop work?
For virtual jesmonite workshops, all the materials you need would be packed and delivered to you in an individual kit before the day of the virtual workshop. Our facilitators would then be conducting the workshop over Zoom, Microsoft Teams or any other online platform of your choice, and you and all of the other participants can enjoy a fun jesmonite session from the comfort of your own homes.
Why choose Concrete Everything?
Concrete Everything has a dedicated team of staff which ensures the planning and preparation for your workshop is done in no time at all.
