Did You Know About the Things That Can Ruin Your Terrarium in Singapore?

Do you remember the time when all of us put in a significant amount of effort to beautify our terrariums but we ended up ruining it even more? This experience sounds pretty exhausting, doesn’t it?

Gone are the days when all our hard work would go into despair. We’ve come a long way, haven’t we? Let’s keep going, right? In this blog, we’ll talk about things that we are doing wrong without even realising it, so you will never make the same mistakes. You can also join an outstanding Terrarium workshop in Singapore that can help you overcome these issues. No,  let’s see where we went wrong & hopefully this blogpost will be helpful for you before embarking on your next plant project.

1) Are you making your terrarium cry, with a lot of water?

Sounds funny and yet so upsetting, well, sorry about that but watering your plant too much can kill it. The plants in the terrarium do not need as much water as the ones out in the open, since the glass walls of the terrarium trap moisture inside. This creates a humid microclimate for the plants, which means they require less watering.

If you are someone who forgets to water their plants, a terrarium is a great way to make sure your plants get the hydration they need. But if you are someone who tends to over water their plants, a terrarium is not the best option.

2) Is your Terrarium taking a Sunbath?

Oops! But that’s for humans, No? Well, it’s not a good idea. It’s fine as long as your plant needs it but don’t let your plant suffer for long.  The glass walls of the terrarium magnify the sun’s rays, which can cause your plants to scorch.

If you have a plant that needs full sun, you can put it in a terrarium for a few hours a day. But if you have a plant that does not need full sun, it is best to keep it out of the terrarium. You can join a Terrarium workshop in Singapore to learn more about the best conditions for your plant to thrive in.

3) Too much love can also kill your Terrarium

We understand that you care about your terrarium and want to share it with others. However, too much attention may be harmful to your terrarium.

If you keep opening your terrarium, the moisture will dissipate and your plants will become dehydrated. The humidity is essential for the survival of the plants in the terrarium, therefore it’s best to leave them alone.

Only open your terrarium when you need to water your plants or if you are making changes to the landscape. Other than that, it is best to keep the lid closed.

4) Don’t let your Terrarium become a dumping ground

Your terrarium is not a garbage can. It is tempting to use it as a place to put all your unwanted things, but resist the urge. The plants in the terrarium cannot survive if they are surrounded by garbage or other unwanted elements.

Only put things in your terrarium that will benefit the plants. This includes rocks, sand, and soil. If you want to add decorations, make sure they are made of materials that will not harm the plants.

5) Don’t forget to clean your Terrarium

Yes, your terrarium needs to be cleaned just like any other room in your house. The plants in the terrarium can get sick if they are surrounded by dirt and dust.

Use a soft cloth to dust the inside of the terrarium. If the plants are looking sick, you can remove them and put them in a different container while you clean the terrarium.

You should also clean the outside of the terrarium, especially if it is made of glass. Glass can get dirty quickly, so it is important to keep it clean. If you want to know more, join our Terrarium workshop in Singapore today.

6)  Don’t neglect your Terrarium

Just because your terrarium is small doesn’t mean it doesn’t need your attention. The plants in the terrarium rely on you for their survival.

Make sure to check on your terrarium regularly. Water the plants when they need it and make sure the humidity levels are where they should be. If you neglect your terrarium, the plants will suffer.

Terrariums are a great way to bring nature into your home. But they require some work on your part. If you are willing to put in the effort, you will be rewarded with a beautiful and thriving terrarium.

Take care of it to make it last long:

Terrariums are a great way to enjoy plants indoors, but there are some things you need to know to keep your terrarium healthy. Water your plants carefully, as too much water can harm them. Avoid putting your terrarium in direct sunlight, as this can scorch the plants. Don’t use your terrarium as a garbage can, and make sure to clean it regularly. With a little care, your terrarium will be a beautiful and thriving part of your home. Call us to join our Terrarium workshop in Singapore!
